Opera SpeedDial is so awesome it was one of the quickest features copied by other browsers. Unfortunately the default amount of sites of 9 (3×3) is rather limiting. I know research shows people generally visit less than 10 sites but I visit more and found myself really running out of space and having to relegate some sites to “bookmarks”.
Fortunately I found a way to add more “slots” to put speed dial sites in
- Open a tab and go to “about:opera” to see what your preferences directory is. It should be along the lines of
C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR NAME>\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile
- Go to that directory and open up speeddial.ini
- Close Opera
- Add the following lines to the file:
[Size]
Rows=3
Columns=5
I found that 3×5 works quite well because it’s just utilising my widescreen space better, adjust to your tastes.
- Start Opera
